Dermal Fillers in Atlanta

Everything You Need to Know About Dermal Fillers & Biostimulators

Stepping into the world of cosmetic injectables? You’ve likely encountered terms such as “biostimulators,” or “neuromodulators,” and especially “dermal fillers” in Atlanta, but may not understand the difference between them.

Your journey with Artisan is built on a foundation of both science and personalized care. Informed patients achieve the best results, so we prioritize client education and a no-pressure approach.

To help you navigate your options, we’ve created this guide to explain the key differences between dermal fillers and biostimulators.

Dermal Fillers

Using hyaluronic acid-based gel, dermal fillers replace facial volume lost to factors like aging or weight loss. Hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the body, maintains skin texture, flexibility, and hydration.

Dermal fillers also address static wrinkles caused by aging, sun damage, or loose skin. (Neuromodulators treat dynamic wrinkles formed by facial expressions.)

The body produces hyaluronic acid to keep skin smooth, flexible, and hydrated. When injected into sunken areas of the face, such as the cheeks or temples, or used as under eye filler or lip filler, HA filler can instantly reduce signs of aging and restore facial harmony.

Dermal fillers can last up to 2 years with proper care. We recommend maintenance sessions every 6 to 12 months to sustain your results.

Biostimulators

Biostimulators restore lost facial volume, minimize visible signs of aging, and rejuvenate skin. They work by stimulating your skin’s natural healing and rebuilding processes, including new production of collagen and elastin—proteins that provide skin strength, structure, and elasticity.

Unlike HA fillers, biostimulators yield gradual results that often appear over the course of 2 to 4 months after your appointment. Depending on your chosen biostimulator, we may recommend an initial series of 2 to 6 injections, followed by maintenance sessions every 6 to 24 months. Usually, results last up to 2 years.

After a complimentary consultation, Artisan’s expert injectors select the biostimulator that best suits your aesthetic goals.

Sculptra

Known for its “2-year Sculptra glow,” Sculptra uses poly-L-lactic acid to boost collagen and elastin, gradually improving skin texture, reducing wrinkles, and tightening skin.

Radiesse

Radiesse provides immediate volume and long-lasting wrinkle reduction. Its calcium hydroxylapatite formula stimulates collagen to restore facial volume and smooth deep lines.
