The Approach

The first question is not which treatment. It is why you are losing hair.

Most hair-loss clinics sell you a treatment before they have figured out your cause. We do it the other way around, and it matters, because hair restoration only works when it is aimed at the right problem in the right person, caught early enough.

Restoration means stimulating your own follicles to grow more and healthier hair, using PRP, microneedling, and the medical and hormonal levers behind hair growth. It works best on early-to-moderate thinning, where your follicles are struggling but still alive. It does much less on areas that are already bald, where the follicles are gone and there is nothing left to wake up. So we start by finding out what is actually happening on your scalp and in your bloodwork.

Candidacy

Are You a Candidate?

Honesty here matters more than usual, because hair restoration is oversold everywhere and the wrong candidate wastes real money.

If your follicles are gone, we will tell you PRP is not your answer, rather than sell you a series that cannot deliver.

You are likely a good candidate if:

  • Your thinning is early-to-moderate and your scalp still has fine or miniaturizing hair, meaning living follicles to work with
  • You have noticed increased shedding, a widening part, or thinning at the crown or temples relatively recently
  • You are willing to do a series and ongoing maintenance, because this is not a one-time fix
  • You are open to investigating the cause, including bloodwork, rather than only treating the scalp
  • You are realistic: the goal is thicker, healthier hair and slowed loss, not a teenage hairline

The Cause

Why Are You Losing Hair?

What we can treat

Androgenetic, or pattern, hair loss: gradual thinning at the crown or hairline in men, diffuse thinning through the part in women, and the most common cause. It responds to minoxidil, finasteride for men, PRP, microneedling, and hormone work, and it is best caught early. Telogen effluvium, meaning sudden diffuse shedding after childbirth, illness, stress, or a crash diet, which often resolves as the trigger passes and responds to nutrition and treating the cause. And hormonal and thyroid-related thinning, tied to menopause, PCOS, thyroid, or testosterone changes, which is where bloodwork and hormone optimization come in.

What we will tell you honestly

Traction loss from tension or styling, and scarring conditions, depend entirely on the cause. Some are reversible and some are not, and we will say which. And where an area is already bald, the follicles are gone and there is nothing left to stimulate, so restoration will not regrow hair there. That is a transplant or a hair system conversation, and pretending otherwise would waste your money.

For Women

Hair Loss in Women

Women lose hair differently than men, usually as diffuse thinning through the part and crown rather than a receding hairline, and the causes skew hormonal and nutritional: postpartum shedding, thyroid issues, iron deficiency, PCOS, and the drop in estrogen around menopause.

That means the answer for a woman is often not just a scalp treatment. It is figuring out what changed in her body.

This is exactly what our wellness team does. Comprehensive bloodwork, an honest look at hormones and nutrition, and a plan that treats the cause alongside the scalp. Most med spas cannot do this. We can.

The Plan

Treating the Scalp, and Treating the Cause

In-Office Treatments

The scalp

  • PRP: your own blood’s growth factors, injected into the scalp to wake dormant follicles. The centerpiece of an in-office series.
  • RF microneedling with Sylfirm: micro-injury plus radiofrequency to boost scalp circulation and follicle health. Often paired with PRP in the same visit.
  • Keravive: a HydraFacial scalp treatment that cleanses and nourishes the scalp. The scalp-health foundation.
  • Topical growth serums between sessions.

Cause-First Work

The rest of you

  • Hormone optimization: bloodwork and correction of the hormonal drivers of hair loss. The cause, not just the symptom.
  • Supplements and nutrition: Nutrafol and nutritional correction, addressing gaps that show up on your labs.
  • Medical therapy: minoxidil and, for men, finasteride, the evidence-backed first line for pattern loss.
  • Treating the trigger, where shedding follows stress, illness, or a postpartum shift.

Real results come from combining these, not from any single treatment. That combination approach is what this practice actually does well, and the cause-first column is the part most hair clinics cannot offer at all, because it requires a physician and bloodwork rather than a device.

Expectations

What to Expect, and How Long It Lasts

Hair grows slowly, and honest timelines prevent disappointment. The first sign is usually reduced shedding, not new growth, and it often shows up before you can see any change in the mirror. Visible thickening typically takes 3 to 6 months, because that is simply how slow the hair cycle is. A starting series is usually three sessions spaced weeks apart, then individualized maintenance, often every few months. Stopping means the benefit gradually fades, because the underlying tendency to lose hair is still there. This is maintenance, not a cure, and we would rather you know that going in.

Your Treatment

The Session, and What Follows

The treatment itself is quick. Patience is  needed afterward.

Two weeks before

Avoid unprotected sun or sunburn on the scalp. No retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, dyes, or chemicals for a week before.

The day of

Arrive with a thoroughly clean scalp, to avoid infection. No sun on the day.

The session

About 30 minutes. We draw your blood, process the PRP, and inject it into the scalp, often alongside RF microneedling. Pronox, a light laughing gas, is available for anyone anxious about it.

The first week after

No chemical dyes. Avoid excessive scratching, heat, or sweating. Do not massage the scalp.

Between sessions

Support the result with good nutrition, recommended supplements, and daily topical serums.

Your Experience

Your Personalized Surgery Experience

Consultation and diagnosis

We examine your scalp and, crucially, investigate the cause, including bloodwork where hormones or nutrition may be involved. This is where we tell you honestly whether restoration will work for you.

Your plan

A combination built around your cause: PRP and RF microneedling in-office, plus supplements, topicals, and hormone optimization where indicated.

The series

Quick sessions, about 30 minutes, with Pronox available. Typically three to start.

Results and maintenance

Reduced shedding first, visible thickening over 3 to 6 months, then individualized maintenance to hold it.

The Practice

Why Patients Choose Artisan

We find the cause, not just treat the scalp

With bloodwork and hormone expertise through our wellness team, we can investigate why you are losing hair, which most hair clinics cannot. For women especially, that is often the whole answer.

A real combination approach

PRP, RF microneedling, Keravive, supplements, and hormones together, not a single oversold treatment.

We tell you how long before you start

Hair grows on its own schedule and nothing changes that. You will know at the outset how many months before you should expect to see anything, and what we check along the way, so you are not guessing at month three.

FAQ

Hair Restoration FAQs

Is this hair replacement, like a system or a transplant?

No, and it is worth being clear. This is hair restoration, meaning we stimulate your own follicles to grow more and healthier hair using PRP, microneedling, and the medical and hormonal levers behind hair growth. It is not a hair system, a wig, or a transplant. If your follicles are truly gone in an area, restoration will not regrow them there, and we will tell you honestly.

Does PRP actually work?

For the right candidate, yes. PRP works best on early-to-moderate thinning where follicles are struggling but still alive. It does little on already-bald areas. It also works best combined with the basics like minoxidil and, for men, finasteride, and with treating any hormonal or nutritional cause. It is a real treatment, and it is not magic, and we would rather set that expectation than oversell it.

Who is not a good candidate?

Anyone already bald in the area of concern, because there are no follicles left to stimulate. For those patients, a transplant or a hair system is the honest answer. Also anyone unwilling to maintain the results, since regrowth fades if you stop.

Why do you start with bloodwork?

Because hair loss often has a cause you cannot see on the scalp: thyroid, hormones, a postpartum shift, iron, or a nutritional gap, especially in women. Treating the scalp while ignoring the cause is why a lot of hair treatment fails. Our wellness team can investigate the cause, which most hair clinics cannot.

Is it different for women?

Often, yes. Women usually thin diffusely rather than receding, and the causes skew hormonal and nutritional: postpartum, thyroid, PCOS, menopause. That is why our cause-first, bloodwork-based approach suits women’s hair loss particularly well.

How much does it cost?

It is priced per session, and it is a series plus ongoing maintenance, so it adds up over time. The exact plan depends on your cause and goals. We give you the full picture, including maintenance, at consultation.

Does it hurt?

Not much. We use a microneedling device or small needles to deliver growth factors to the scalp, and you may feel some pinching. For anyone anxious, we offer Pronox, a light laughing gas, during the treatment.

How many sessions, and how soon will I see results?

Usually a starting series of three, then individualized maintenance. The first sign is often reduced shedding, before you can see new growth. Visible thickening typically takes 3 to 6 months, because the hair cycle is genuinely slow.

Do I have to keep doing it forever?

To keep the results, largely yes. The underlying tendency to lose hair does not go away, so maintenance holds the benefit. Stopping means it gradually fades. We are upfront about this because it affects whether the treatment is right for you.

Can I combine it with minoxidil or finasteride?

Yes, and we often recommend it. PRP and microneedling work best alongside the evidence-backed basics rather than instead of them.
