Breast lift with augmentation: the basics

A breast lift, or mastopexy, raises and reshapes sagging breasts by removing excess skin and repositioning the breast tissue to a higher position. Our goal is to give your breasts a firmer, rounder, and more youthful contour, rejuvenating your figure and helping bras fit more comfortably and attractively.

If you would also like to go up in size, or your breasts have lost a lot of volume after pregnancy and breastfeeding, a breast lift alone may not get you the results you desire. Or, if your breasts appear “deflated” as well as droopy, there may not be enough natural tissue available to reshape a beautiful breast.

What are my breast implant choices?

Your Artisan plastic surgeon will help you choose between saline and silicone gel breast implants. Both can deliver beautiful, natural looking results, but there are some key differences that can affect your choice. Generally, silicone gel implants feel more natural, and they weigh slightly less. Saline implants are a bit firmer, but many patients appreciate the peace of mind of the saline implant filling.

Additionally, we will help you navigate your many options for shape, size, and profile to find the implants that best fit your body and offer the enhancement you are looking for. If you would like to bring a friend along to your implant sizing session help you get a better idea of what implants look best on you, we welcome that! If possible, just let us know when you call to book your consultation that you may have someone with you.

Breast lift with implant recovery

Most of our patients return to work and their regular routine one week after surgery. Generally, we recommend waiting 3 to 4 weeks before resuming vigorous activities.

You will need a friend to drive you home after surgery, and do plan for help around the house for a few days, as you will be limited in what you can do at first—particularly regarding lifting and upper body movement. Light walking is encouraged as soon as you feel up to it.
