Mommy Makeover in Atlanta
Combining body & breast procedures for a complete enhancement
Many patients want to improve both their breasts and bodies—perhaps they are bothered by “deflated” breasts and extra skin on the belly after having kids. Other patients have lost significant weight and want to address sagging skin on their breasts, abdomen, and/or arms and thighs. We also meet many patients who have always wanted to have larger breasts and a more hourglass-type shape.
At Artisan Plastic Surgery, we can help all of these patients by combining breast and body procedures. Our experienced and talented female plastic surgeons personalize each patient’s surgical plan, so whether you want to restore your pre-pregnancy body with a mommy makeover, or you have different concerns, we will tailor your procedure selections to your needs and goals.
What is involved with a mommy makeover?
A mommy makeover is a personalized combination of breast and body procedures, such as breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tuck, and/or liposuction. The term “mommy makeover” came about because these procedures are often performed to address effects of pregnancy and childbearing; however, combining procedures can be useful for a variety of patients who wish to make multiple changes at once.
While we personalize any procedure combination to each patient, there are some procedures that are popular choices for our Atlanta mommy makeover patients:
- Breast augmentation
- Breast lift or breast reduction
- Breast lift with implants
- Tummy tuck
- Liposuction
- Body lifting
- ThermiVa (non-surgical)
Benefits of Mommy Makeover Surgery
There are many advantages to combining breast and body procedures if you wish to address multiple concerns:
Comprehensive, seamless results
By working on the abdomen and hips at the same time as the breasts, we can achieve harmony between these areas. While not impossible to do with separate surgeries, we can more easily make nuanced adjustments to achieve the most natural looking transitions between the breasts and body when combining procedures.
Fewer interruptions to your busy life
You will have one surgery and recovery period, so you won’t have to repeat the process every few months or years to achieve your overall goal.
A cost-effective approach
Combining procedures decreases your total expenses if you plan to have both procedures performed at some time. This is because you will only have to pay operating room and anesthesiologist fees once. Additionally, you will likely need less total time off of work, which can save you time and lost income.
Before & After GallerySee artisan patient resultsMommy makeovers are not limited to moms!
Combined breast & body procedure plans are often called mommy makeovers because they address common concerns that women have about their bodies following pregnancy and childbirth. However, we understand that not every woman who has concerns such as sagging breasts, stretched abdominal muscles, and stubborn fat pockets is a mom—and we are here to help you too. Our highest priority is helping you make the changes you desire to feel more comfortable and confident in your body, regardless of how you came to desire those changes.
Mommy makeover surgery recovery
Mommy makeover recovery time varies widely from patient to patient, depending on the procedures performed. If you are only having a breast augmentation and some hip liposuction, for example, your recovery will likely be much shorter than a patient who is undergoing a breast lift, augmentation, and extended tummy tuck. In any case, you can expect to need a minimum of 1 to 2 weeks off work, and you will need help with childcare and around the house for several weeks, as you will be limited in how much you can lift or strain at first.
Your plastic surgeon will discuss your expected recovery timeline at your consultation, and she will provide detailed, personalized recovery and aftercare instructions before your surgery date to help you prepare.
How to know if I am a candidate for a mommy makeover?
Timing your mommy makeover right for your body, your family, and your lifestyle is important, and we will make sure you have the information you need to determine confidently if you are ready for mommy makeover surgery at this time. In general, you will want to make sure of a few things first:
Finished having children & are considering a tummy tuck and/or breast lift
Becoming pregnant after a mommy makeover is not unsafe for you or baby, but it will undo some of your results, as your breasts and belly will stretch out again. If you’re undecided, you may consider some less extensive procedures first.
You are at or near a weight you are happy with
Significant weight changes after plastic surgery can compromise the results, so if you have weight loss (or gain) goals, it is better to wait until you have achieved your goal and your weight has been stable for several months before moving forward with surgery.
You are no longer breastfeeding
We generally recommend waiting to undergo cosmetic breast surgery until after the breasts have returned to their normal, non-pregnant and non-breastfeeding state for several months for the best results.
You have reliable full-time childcare help
, or your kids no longer need to be lifted or carried on a daily basis. You will not be allowed to lift heavy objects, including small children, for several weeks after breast or body surgery.
